FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship - Semifinals - As It Happened

 

Zurich, Switzerland, May 9, 2015 – Semifinal day at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship Zurich 2015 is now over. Eczacibasi VitrA booked their place in the final in the opening match before Dinamo Krasnodar joined them following victory in the second match of the day. Turkish outfit Eczacibasi VitrA became the first team to book their place in the final after seeing off Volero Zurich 3-1 (25-17, 25-22, 18-25, 34-32) after a marathon fourth set in a pulsating semifinal.

Dinamo Krasnodar then succeeded in handing Rexona AdeS their first defeat of the tournament and claiming a berth in the final with a 3-1 (25-21, 25-27, 25-23, 25-21) win.

The ninth edition of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship takes place in Zurich from May 6 to 10.

The Women’s Club World Championship has had eight different winners from five different countries. Brazil has been represented on the winner’s podium three times, Turkey twice, while Azerbaijan, Italy and Russia have all had clubs win the competition once.

Six clubs will compete for honours in 2015, including Volero Zurich (Switzerland), Hisamitsu Springs (Japan), Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul (Turkey), Rexona Ades (Brazil), Dinamo Krasnodar (Russia) and Mirador (Dominican Republic).
