FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship - Day Two - As It Happened

 

Zurich, Switzerland, May 7, 2015 - Day 2 of the FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship Zurich 2015 saw Turkish club Eczacibasi VitrA bounce back from an opening day defeat to see off Russian rivals Dinamo Krasnodar and claim a semifinal berth. Brazil's Rexona Ades also handed hosts Volero Zurich their first defeat of the tournament.

Eczacibasi come back from the brink to make Zurich 2015 semifinals

The ninth edition of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship takes place in Zurich from May 6 to 10.

Thursday's action began at 17.30 CET as Eczacibasi Vitra put their loss to Hisamitsu Springs to defeat Russia's Dinamo Krasnodar in straight sets (25-22, 26-24, 25-19) to book their place in the semifinals

Tournament hosts Volero Zurich couldn't follow up on their opening-day victory withh Rexona Ades putting them to the sword in four thrilling sets (30-28, 25-22, 33-35, 25-22) of top quality volleyball in Pool A.

The Women’s Club World Championship has had eight different winners from five different countries. Brazil has been represented on the winner’s podium three times, Turkey twice, while Azerbaijan, Italy and Russia have all had clubs win the competition once.

Six clubs will compete for honours in 2015, including Volero Zurich (Switzerland), Hisamitsu Springs (Japan), Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul (Turkey), Rexona Ades (Brazil), Dinamo Krasnodar (Russia) and Mirador (Dominican Republic).
