Women’s Club World Championship agreement with Eventcourt confirmed until 2019

Eventcourt will organise the Women's Club World Championship between 2015 and 2019

Florence, Italy, July 21, 2014 - The future of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship is bright following the signing of a long-term contract from 2015 to 2019 by the FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° and Switzerland-based sport event promoter Eventcourt during last week's FIVB Volleyball World League Group 1 Finals in Florence, Italy.

Eventcourt first organised the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship 2013 and 2014 in Zurich. Their collaboration with the FIVB aims to take the Women’s Club World Championship to another level of organisation with a more professional framework, including the best club teams from around the world, with the tournament potentially being held in different locations.

The signing ceremony in Florence followed the confirmation earlier in the year of the contract for the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship 2014, which included a ground-breaking, long-term option to organise the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship from 2015 to 2019.

"I’m very pleased to be able to take our relationship with Eventcourt to another level,” President Graça said. “They have proven to be outstanding partners in organising the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship in recent years and I’m looking forward to realising the exciting potential of the tournament with them."

"We are very happy that we will be authorised to hold one of the top women’s competitions of the FIVB in the next five years," said Stav Jacobi, Eventcourt AG's President of the Board of Directors. "That the Club World Championship will explore new paths and that we may set a new benchmark in the organization and commercialisation in close collaboration with the FIVB also entails a huge responsibility. We are absolutely aware of it but we are very pleased that we will be able to build a bridge between the FIVB and the worldwide leading women’s clubs."

The FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship first started in 1991 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, before being held in Italy (1992), Brazil (1994), Qatar (2010 to 2012) and then passing to Zurich. The 2014 edition saw Russia’s Dinamo Kazan take the honours followed by two Brazilian clubs in Molico Osasco and SESI-SP.
