Volero survive first-set scare to stay on track for semifinal berth

Zurich, Switzerland, May 6, 2015 - Mirador Santo Domingo took Volero Zurich by surprise in the first set but the hosts convincingly came back to open their 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship campaign with a 3-1 (20-25, 25-17, 25-15, 15-15 victory).

And Rachel Sanchez coming in in the second set didn't hurt, either. The 26-year-old, Cuban-born middle blocker helped turn the tide, adding 16 points to her Olesia Rykhliuk's 20 as Volero pulled together to take a huge step towards a semi-final berth - which would be their third in as many appearances in the competition.

Eventually it was consistency on the part of the hosts after the first set that got them the well-earned victory and gives them pace before tomorrow's match, at 20:00 local time (18:00 GMT) against Rexona-AdeS of Rio de Janeiro.
