Eczacibasi Vitra Istanbul topped the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship in Zurich, Switzerland; the Turkish club will receive the Sedat Simavi Prize in the Sports category
Lausanne, Switzerland, December 7, 2015 – The selection committee of the Sedat Simavi Awards have chosen 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship winners Eczacibasi Vitra Istanbul as the recipient of Turkey’s prestigious Sedat Simavi Prize in the Sports category.
Sedat Simavi is a Turkish journalist, who co-founded the Turkish Journalists Association in 1946 and the Hürriyet newspaper in 1948. A foundation was also estalblished in honour of the Simavi.
In 1977, the Sedat Simavi Foundation established the Sedat Simavi Awards, which presents awards each year in various categories such as literature, sports, TV, radio, news, health, science, social sciences and visual arts.
