Dinamo Krasnodar awarded wild card for Women’s Club World Championship

 

Dinamo Krasnodar will join five other clubs at the FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship

Lausanne, Switzerland, March 16, 2015 - The FIVB is pleased to announce that Dinamo Krasnodar have received one of the two wild cards for the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship, which will take place in Zurich, Switzerland from May 6-10.

The Russian club will join hosts Volero Zurich, South American champions Rexona Ades from Brazil, Japanese V League winners Hisamitsu Springs, the future winners of the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Women’s Champions League - to be decided when the competition’s top four teams play in Szczecin, Poland from April 4-5 - and a second wild card, to be announced.

Dinamo Krasnodar coach Konstantin Ushakov will draw on the experience of Lioubov Sokolova and Brazilians Josefa Fabíola and Fernanda Garay to score a second Club World Championship title for a Russian club, after Dinamo Kazan defeated Molico/Osasco to claim honours in 2014.

Ushakov’s players defeated French club Nantes VB to qualify for the semifinals of the CEV Cup on Thursday. They will take on former Women’s Club World Championship winners Azerbaijan’s Rabita Baku in the next round.

The Russian club were CEV Challenge Cup winners in 2013 and Russian Cup winners in 2014. They have also qualified for the playoffs of the 2014-15 Russian Superleague, and take on Uralochka NTMK in the quarterfinals.

Tickets now available
Tickets for the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship are now available here. Day passes are available for Saturday and Sunday, May 9-10. Fans can also order two-day passes covering both days. Entrance will be free of charge for the competition’s preliminary round, which will take place from Wednesday to Friday, May 6-8.
