Overview

Team profile

Rexona Ades secured their place at the World Club Championship with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Brazilian rivals Molico/Nestle of Sao Paulo in the final of the 2015 South American Club Championship. The Rio de Janeiro-based team's only other appearance at the World Club Championship was in 2013, when they were known as Unilever Volei. The name change happened in 2014. In the 2013 tournament, they finished second in Pool B and then beat hosts Volero Zurich in the semifinal before losing 3-0 to VakifBank Istanbul in the final.

The team's coach is the legendary Bernardo "Bernardinho" Rezende. He has sculpted them into the most successful side in Brazilian women's volleyball since their formation in Parana in 1997. They won two Brazilian national league titles before relocating to Rio in 2004. Since moving, they have added seven league titles and have won the Rio de Janeiro State Championship every year since 2004. Their success has not been restricted to national level. Their 2015 South American Club Championship victory meant they regained the title they had first won in 2013. In Zurich they will be hoping to replicate their victories on Swiss soil in 2006 and 2009, when they won the Top Volley Tournament in Basel.
